Connecting rod bolt

Torque-to-yield. This fastener is tightened past its elastic limit and permanently stretches. Always install a new one — a reused TTY bolt will not clamp to spec.

Tightening procedure

  1. Torque 15 lb-ft · 20 N·m
  2. Angle 85°

Complete the passes in the order shown. Angle passes are turn-of-the-nut steps measured with an angle gauge after the preceding torque pass.

Torque-to-yield. Second-design (most common, incl. LS3) final pass 85 degrees; first design 60 degrees (variant). Catalog PN: GM 11570662 per figure 1Y00-083 callout 102 — "BOLT,CONN ROD(MJ9X44,13 THD,15.5 OD,12.9,PL) — Required: 02 per rod (16 total), Y 6.2W(LS3) (2008-2011). Grade 12.9, 9mm metric J-thread, 44mm length, 13 threads, 15.5mm OD. Phosphate/lubricant pre-applied." Socket: 12-point drive (stock and ARP LS rod bolts use a 12-point head); provisional.
