Cylinder bore out-of-round limit
Specification
GM does not publish a discrete limit for this measurement on the LS3. See the notes below for what bounds it and the accepted service practice.
Measured with Bore gauge at multiple positions.
Notes
GM SI document 2055077 "Engine Mechanical Specifications (6.2L LS3)" does not publish a discrete cylinder bore out-of-round limit. The cylinder bore diameter is specified as 103.241–103.259 mm (4.0646–4.0653 in) — a production tolerance band of 0.018 mm that implicitly bounds out-of-round. Industry practice for LS3 service hones uses 0.018-0.020 mm as the out-of-round service limit. Verify with J-8087 cylinder bore gauge at the top, middle, and bottom of each bore in two perpendicular axes; if out-of-round exceeds 0.020 mm, the bore requires honing or boring oversize.
